Perceiving Truth – Part 2

Tell me, what of sharing truths?

When I share pieces of my truth with another,
How are they to know my truth as a whole,
If I too, cannot tell a piece from a whole.

How would my pieces be altered by another’s truth?
For no truth is passed from one to another,
Without an adjustment in terms of the other.

Thus, my truth becomes integrated with theirs.
A together truth may be muddied, it may be clearer.
If the other’s lens is less tainted, cracked or shattered,
Would it not serve better, to see through theirs?

We alter one another through our exchange.
Passing between us,
Pieces of perceived truths, ours.

Piece by piece, perception by perception,
A shared truth is formed between the other and I.
A culmination of our separate truths.

In perceiving another’s truth,
Hath I placed myself entirely in their place,
Then I would perceive as they,
If I could do so, then I would be as they.

Though I am not they,
And they not I.
My truth equals not another’s.

This means not, that I should not try,
To perceive as they,
To exchange pieces with another.

Though I must not be blind to see,
That our truths do differ,
As do all shades of colour.

And I must not be blind to see,
There is much beauty, much wisdom,
In another’s truth, their sightly kingdom.

We are always searching for the truth , whether it concerns religious belief
or deciding whether our politicians are truthful.
What we do know for sure is that the first casualty in war is the truth.
Sharing what we profess to be true can be a dangerous pursuit if passed on to another.
Hence the children’s game of Chinese Whispers when a message is passed on ,only to end bearing little resemblance to the beginning.
I am a casualty of a whispering campaign .

In the early 70s I took a phone call from my father from England when he told me that he had heard that I had been in prison here in Australia.
As a speeding fine has been my only offence it came as a stunning shock.
Now , let us explore how that could have happened.
Malcolm went to Australia , convicts used to be sent there.
Sent as a convict ? HaHa Ha.
I heard something the other day ,told in confidence that Malcolm has been in trouble with the law.
He could be in prison ……………….
Then we have disbelief of the truth.
I signed a purchase contract for a growers woolclip .
The farmer did not tell me he had already contracted to another buyer.
Presumably he thought he could get away with it as I had offered more.
There was mayhem back in Fremantle as the other company would not believe that I was ignorant of the previous contract. I duly cancelled my contract but to the other company I was a person of ill repute.
Truth is seems is very flexible and comes with dangers if not handled with care.
