The setting sun
Just as the sun rises and sets, so do our lives. We are in a state of flux. Our lives transient. Our thoughts, feelings and sense-perceptions ever-shifting. Our souls ever-yearning. This life we have been given, insignificant in comparison to the hereafter. Yet, this life, is most significant in determining our state within the time yet to come. A state that is determined by our acts of kindness, by our undertaking of good deeds. Just as the sun sets, and we can no longer see, so too is the next life concealed by the night’s veil. Yet the concealment of light does not imply the cessation of light’s existence. The exchange between day and night, is representative of an exchange from one life to the next.
Just as the sun and moon’s trajectory is precisely known, so too is ours. Only, we have been given this unique and magnificent conscious ability to choose our trajectory, to learn for ourselves what is already known by our inner souls. To know what is already known, we must traverse beyond our horizon, from our seen realm to the realm unseen, just as this day turns to night. Then we must bring the knowledge of the unseen back to our conscious realm, just as the night turns to day. If the night is our unconscious realm, and the day is our conscious realm, one’s day influences their night, and one’s night influences their day.
Whilst we do not yet see all that lies ahead, we are reminded by the setting sun, all that sets shall rise once again. One’s struggles today will determine their ease tomorrow. One’s good deeds in the present will be rewarded with better things to come.
